Stagg Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey – 131 Proof (Batch 18)
Stagg, once known as "Stagg Jr.," is a powerhouse bourbon bottled uncut and unfiltered straight from the barrel. This particular release, coming in at 131 proof, delivers an unapologetically bold and rich experience that bourbon enthusiasts crave. Aged for nearly a decade at Buffalo Trace Distillery, it strikes the perfect balance between raw intensity and refined complexity.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Deep and aromatic, with layers of caramel, vanilla bean, dark cherries, leather, and toasted oak. Hints of baking spice and a trace of smokiness elevate the bouquet.
Palate: Full-bodied and warm, it opens with rich flavors of dark chocolate, cinnamon, and molasses, followed by notes of ripe red fruit, brown sugar, and roasted nuts. The high proof brings intensity without overwhelming the intricate flavors.
Finish: Exceptionally long and warming. Spicy oak, charred sugar, and a gentle sweetness linger, leaving a bold yet balanced impression.
Final Thoughts
Stagg 131 Proof is an excellent expression for those who enjoy robust, barrel-proof bourbons. It’s a whiskey that demands attention—bold, flavorful, and built for sipping slowly. Whether you're a seasoned collector or a fan of full-strength pours, this bottle is a must-have in any serious bourbon lineup.
